Aquaponics
A key part of our process is an agricultural technique called aquaponics. Aquaponics a cultivation strategy that harnesses a natural, symbiotic relationship between plants and fish. In a closed-loop system nutrient-rich water is cycled from fish to plant roots. The water is filtered by the plants and then returned to fish in continuous cycle. This technique allows for reduced water use and prevents the need for artificial nutrients or chemical fertilizers. Estimates of water conservation range from 90-99% less water consumption than traditional agriculture. In addition to being a drought-hardy growing technique, aquaponics requires less land space per pound of produce as compared to traditional agriculture.
